Solar Technician (Applicant Pool)

Applicants for this role will be considered for an entry-level positon in any of the following Divisions: Erosion Control, Layout, Pile Instillation, Racking Instillation, and Module Instillation. If you want to apply for a specific Division, please complete an application for a role within that Division. For example, if you want to specifically work for Module Instillation, please complete an application for 'Solar Technician - Modules.'


Assemble and install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on land or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. May include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules; will perform in accordance with predetermined plans, building codes, and safety restrictions.


The responsibilities vary depending on the Division, but below are some general guidelines:

  • Ensures correct piles (type, length, width, and thickness, etc.) placement in accordance to a set of plans.  Piles vary in type, length, width and thickness.  This causes the weight to vary.
  • Properly and safely walk the pile to an upright position. Placing the pile into the Pile Driver (heavy equipment) catch and advise the Pile Driver operator, driving the pile, when the pile is at the correct depth in the ground in accordance to the pre-determined measurement.
  • Ensures correct racking system (type, length, width, and thickness, etc.) and all additional parts (bolts, nuts and washers) is utilized in accordance to a set of plans.
  • As the plan design shows, properly construct the racking system together, and ensure its proper assembly on top of the piles. This includes the bracing, strong backs, tubing, cross straps, and purling’s.
  • Remove Solar Modules from staged boxes, line them up with holes on Racking System either in the top position or bottom position. Installation of bolts, washer and nuts per module, and the tightening of bolts using impact wrench to specifications and appropriate torque levels.
  • QC/QA (Quality Assurance/Control) inspection and adjustment of piles, racking, and/or modules installed to determine proper installation; ensure all hardware is installed properly and torque levels are precise according to manufacturer’s specification documents.
  • Daily trash/debris collection and disposal of in designated area.


  • No experience is required; however, 6 months or more is preferred
  • Available for 100% Travel
  • Capable of frequently lifting 50 lbs without assistance
  • Capable of standing, walking, and kneeling for long duration of time
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather elements
